A change of mind and appreciation for diversity - Peter Katuramu

Through the programme my understanding and appreciation for gender and responsive budgeting was enhanced. This information enabled me secure a full scholarship at the United Nations University of Ice Land under the Gender Equality and training Program at post graduate level.

Above all, the programme helped improve my understanding of policy issues in Uganda, appreciation of diversity and helped build my critical analysis skills.

Participating in the program enabled me, meet individuals from diverse walks of life; academia, culture, beliefs and values. This has made me a person who values people’s ideas, beliefs and cultures.

I learnt that the challenges of Uganda are my challenges too as a young person. Furthermore, leadership determines everything and as young people we can choose our own course and shape the destiny of our country. Whereas rights and freedoms are inherent, there is still a great need to advocate for the protection and promotion of these right in Uganda.

Through the programme my understanding and appreciation for gender and gender responsive budgeting was enhanced. This information enabled me secure a full scholarship at the United Nations University of Ice Land under the Gender Equality and Training Program at post graduate level.
