General information on internships with FES Uganda
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Uganda.
FES Uganda offers up to 3-months internships between the 15th of February and the 15th of November every year.
Applicants from all over the world are welcome.

Application requirements:
- At least a bachelor degree in a field relevant to the FES working lines, e.g. social sciences, economics, development studies, law, African Studies.
- Proof of English proficiency.
- Living or working experience in Uganda or the region is an advantage.
- Knowledge of and / or experience in communication, public relations and social media platforms is an advantage.
Application Periods
Due to the global uncertainties, especially in the health sector, internship had been on hold since 2020. From the second quarter of 2023, FES Uganda plans to offer internships again.
Applications for the 1st half of the year should be sent in by
31 October of the year before. Applicants for this period will be contacted in early November.
Applications for the 2nd half of the year should be sent in by
28 February of that year. Applicants for this period will be contacted in early March.
For 2023, this deadline has been extended to 31st of March 2023 and successful applicants will be contacted by end of April.
Application documents:
- Cover / motivation letter, including an indication of the planned time period and duration of the internship
- CV including contacts of at least two referees
- Relevant certificates, transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.

Tasks and duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaboration with project officers in preparing conferences, workshops etc.
- Assisting the office staff in performing the day-to-day business
- Preparation of short papers or research relevant to current activities of FES Uganda

- Please note that the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung under no circumstances requires any sort of payment for the application process.
- The responsibility to ensure all immigration requirements are met lies with the applicant.
- The intern will be responsible to make his or her own arrangements for accommodation.
- Please do not purchase an air ticket to Uganda before having received your acceptance letter.
