Governance and Participation

Good governance and inclusive participation are key principles of democracy and social justice. Friedrich–Ebert–Stiftung recognises the importance of good governance as a means and end to building strong systems to serve and protect the interests of all citizens and foster sustainable development.

FES works in Uganda to support good governance and participation through continuous dialogues on democracy, inclusive participation, rule of law and access to information with different government departments, academia and civil society organizations.

FES further contributes to strengthening dialogue around governance and participation through research and fact-based analysis as well as supporting the establishment of platforms to bring together civil society organisations, academia, parliamentarians, media practitioners and representatives of political parties with great consideration for special interest groups like women and youth to generate, share and discuss evidence-based information as a foundation for critical debate.

Under the same project, FES convenes conversations on citizens participation in matters of security through its community policing dialogues and studies. The aim is to foster policy and practice on more inclusive and citizen lead approaches to security.
