This report presents a review on the functionality and effectiveness of Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs).

This report presents a review on the functionality and effectiveness of Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisations (SACCOs) as institutions tailored towards reducing poverty and vulnerability among urban communities and ultimately supporting socio-economic transformation in Uganda. SACCOs are considered to be part of the cooperative movement, which describes them as voluntary business organisations formed by a defined group of people who have agreed to associate on the basis of equality for the promotion of their economic interests.
